HOW TO INSTALL:

Unzip the files then run the MarathonRunner java executable file to play.
To unzip the files simply right click on the MarathonRunnerBeta4.zip file and select extract all.
The only requirment for the game is that you have the latest version of java.
If you get errors such as "main class not found" it is most likely you are running an older version of java.

HOW TO PLAY:

Press the option button to change options.
To change controls press the set leg button then push the button on the keyboard you want.
It has to be a typable key, you cannot use the arrows or function keys.
Controls can be changed during mid race.
To choose your race simply click one of the races in the options window.
After you finish a race a window comes up that enables you to submit your high score.
Type your name at the top then hit submit at the bottom to submit your score.
To view the high scores click the high scores button and then choose the race.


CHANGES:
November 18, 2004:
There are separate high scores for each race now and you can view high scores without racing.

November 16, 2004:
I added an online scoreboard. Users can submit their scores and view others. Right now there is one scoreboard for all races.

November 6, 2005:
I added options to change the controls and length of the race.  There is now a statistics window that pops up at the finish.
In the next version I hope to have online high scores a functional feature.

November 3, 2005:
Simply push start to start the race.
Then push '8' to step with the left leg and '9' to step with the right leg.
Alternate these buttons until you get to the end.  
For now it is only 1000 steps which isn't nearly a marathon and the graphics are just stick figures.
The final version will have customizable controls, photo realistic graphics, high scores, and you will be able to choose from a number of different races.
I will probably add other features as well.  Contact me for any suggestions or bugs in the game.
